Early in the morning, the MTU Crew and NMU Crew showed up to the docks ready to go head to head in their annual scrimmage. Rowing out of our channel, boats warmed up and rowed to the start just near the Isle Royale’s Headquarters making the course around 3.5 kilometers. With megaphone in hand MTU’s Coach Jon called out the start to the races.
What started with races on flat water, quickly changed to wind blowing against the boats picking up waves. After 5 heats containing around 18 boats, our equipment manager, Aaron, blew the horn for the last boat marking the finish of the scrimmage.
